This page documents the public domain day edit-a-thon 2018 in the Royal Library of Belgium on 26 January 2019.

Purpose

[edit]

The edit-a-thon was organised to enrich Wikipedia with creating new articles and expanding existing articles about authors of whom the works entered the public domain on 1 January 2019.

History and background

[edit]

On 1 January of a year, the works of authors that died 70+ years ago enter the public domain and this is celebrated as public domain day. In the past years the Royal Library of Belgium has paid special attention to these works and organised together with partners events around these authors and works.
