Wikimedia Belgium follows the corona guidelines of the Wikimedia Foundation and the national government. Until further notice, meetings and gatherings for cultural and educational purposes are prohibited at both national and international levels.

This includes both public and private events. This includes Wikimeets, editathons and conferences. The aim of these measures is to slow down the spread of the coronavirus and to avoid personal risks and the saturation point of health care. Wikimedia projects are subordinate to health care and our immediate family and (wiki) friends.

We only plan online events instead of offline meetings. We strongly recommend the use of videoconferencing tools.

May we call upon you to take the opportunity to give even more attention to writing and contributing to projects, without the need for physical contact. Ongoing projects are the Mois de la contribution, the Wiki Club Brussels which from now on will continue as a video conference, updating articles written in the context of International Women's Day, translating Wikipedia articles, updating the metadata of photos, updating Wikidata, or further interlinking Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata.

Maybe now we can pay more attention to further developing our strategy and thinking about our movement.

Let us be creative with these limiting measures and discover how we can continue to connect and collaborate with each other in a pleasant and safe way.
