Legal limits

In general we advise our volunteers to use the public transport.

Legal rules for the use of a car for travel for Wikimedia Belgium (expense claims):

  • with your own car, a price per kilometer, determined quarterly by the federal government;
  • with a shared car, the actual costs (based on the actual kilometers driven according to the rental company's invoice);
  • the use of a rental car is not accepted in principle.[1]

Tax requirements

[edit]

The General ledger should register for each volunteer and each year the travel allowances.

  • Amounts are determined by the Belgian Government.
  • The ledger must contain a reporting per volunteer/year of all transport expenses.
  • Maximum 2000 km per volunteer/year can be declared, including bicycle allowance, and public transport. Based on the price/km this results in a maximum amount of about 850 €/year.
