Wikimedia account
Appearance
A Wikimedia user account can be used on any Wikimedia platform (Wikipedia being the best known, or this one).
- SUL (single user login) is implemented for the core systems. You can configure your user preferences (global and local).
- OAuth (Open Authorisation) is used to login into Wikimedia related (non core) applications.

Global user preferences
[edit]Global user preferences are valid for all projects:
- Global user pages, inherited by other Wikimedia platforms, as a default
- Configure your global preferences
- Display preview below - Uncheck: Display preview above edit field
- Could instead use interactive Preview mode;
- or use the Visual editor.

- Configure your global CSS style
- Style (size, colour) of headers
- Redirect coloring
- Hide some sections (e.g. section edit)
- Enable external functions like Copyright violation check
Local preferences
[edit]- Set preferences per platform or language, to override global settings
- CSS per platform
- CSS per skin
- Local Gadgets like: ORES, Real-Time Recent Changes (RTRC)
- Browser extensions, like Who Wrote That?
Security
[edit]- Logout: when you logout in one browser, you need login again anywhere...
- For user accounts with increased rights you require a one-time token.
Missing functionality
[edit]- Global signature (the signature must be configured for each platform separately).
