Update on WLM BE-LUX 2016 by --Ste.caneva (talk) 12:28, 1 July 2016 (UTC)[edit]

1. Organization
1.1. Funding

  • As you know, the grant request has been approved. I am grateful to Romaine for his help and guide and happy for the positive result of my first wiki application!

To do

  • We are currently moving to discuss external funding with partner institutions
  • As you have seen in the proposal, this year we have integrate a followup event, an editathon aiming to foster reuse of WLM pictures for Wikipedia. It would be great if we could open up this to the new monuments related to FoP. We could perhaps discuss the possibility of doing the same with WLA.

1.2. Partnerships
To do

  • Together with Romaine we are about to make the point of the institutions that have already supported WLMBE in the past and of those that have more recently entered our network and which could help us organize events across the country (in addition to hosting the award ceremony and the reuse editathon)
  • I know some people who would be interested in a photographic tour in Liège in September. I would be happy to collaborate with Antoine to organize something, perhaps during the 8-11 weekend of the European Heritage. I will keep myself at disposal for WLM events during the weekend.
  • I warmly suggest that we accompany the celebration of FoP with a catchy photographic tour of the “liberated” monuments. This could happen in September even if the law becomes valid before. In any case we will try to do something in Brussels, so why not do the most of it?

Side note on a new partnership in Antwerp

  • Antwerp: On Saturday 30 April I invited Romaine and Derek to give a presentation of WLM and WLA (and educational followups) at the Encora school for adult education in Antwerp. The organizer of the event was the Antwerp committee of Società Dante Alighieri, an international association for the support of Italian language and culture, which is interested in starting a collaboration with WMBE. On 19 June we have had a wiki tour of the Van Mieghem Museum (Antwerp) with 6 members of this association. We took photos and collected information. On 6 september we will meet again to upload pictures for WLM and we will work on the followup of the collaboration: Italian translation of the artist page on Wikipedia and writing of a new page concerning the building and museum in Dutch, French, English and Italian. Moreover, if this first try is successful we will aim to integrate collaborations with WMBE and WMI as educational routine in the programme of Dante Alighieri Antwerpen

I noticed that the seat of the Museum, Het Redershuis [1], does not appear yet among the historical monuments listed in WLMBE. I wonder if there would be a chance to integrate it so that we can also upload our pictures for WLMBE, otherwise we will simply upload them on Wikimedia Commons

2. Communication
2.1. General

  • Up until now nobody has been able to give me the access data to the fb page of WLM BE-LUX, which means that there is no official way to inform people of what we are doing for the organization of the campaign, that there will be a campaign, and that we have a new law on FoP which evidently affects our contest and most probably makes the 2016 edition the first in which we will be able to include monuments such as the Liège station, the European building and the Atomium
  • I think we should create a transversal hashtag for communication on the 2016 campaign. I suggest #WlmBeLux2016 but just give me a better option and I will pick it up
  • I warmly suggest that there is at least a reference to WLMBELUX2016 in the campaign promoting FoP and that the project-related communication significantly takes on board the topic of FoP because it is revolutionary for the project. So I would like to ask for collaboration between Romaine and me on the one hand, Antoine and Dimi on the other. I will be happy to relaunch the messages concerning FoP as part of the WLM communication campaign

2.2. Website

  • We should modify the message here [2] because it still refers to 2015 and to the fact that WMBE did not participate in the contest. I think it is not inviting for interested people, even before the campaign starts, to stumble upon this kind of out-of-date negative messages
