BIBFRAME

BIBFRAME seems to be an extension of the MARCXML standard.

It is developed by the Library of Congress in 2016, and adopted by National Library of Sweden in 2018.

Data model

It has the entities work (book), edition, and instance.

Entities of a published work
Entity	Description	Characteristics
Work	Written work	A work written by one or more authors
Edition	Identified by ISBN number	An edition, possibly a translation, published by a publisher
Instance	Physical copy	A physical copy owned by a library or another third party
