The Legal Entity Identifier is an indirect consequence of the 2009 financial crisis.
It is an instrument of the European MiFID II regulation, that was implemented since then.
It is mandatory for any organisation, or enterprise, that want acquire shares, or other financial instruments with a non-guaranteed capital.
Format
[edit]A Unique 20 character code assigned to an organisation or enterprise.
