Writing the newsletter

This is a brief guide on how to write a newsletter.
Please take MediaWiki, and the Translate extension functions into account.
General procedure
[edit]- Prepare the content and the structure of the newsletter in a Google Doc.
- Start at Newsletter.
- Make a new version in Dutch at a subpage YYYY-MM (the /nl subpage will be automatically created after translation).
- Paste the text.
- Replace http(s) links by equivalent internal links (replacing [ ] by [[ ]] and using a | instead of space.
- e.g. w:nl is the prefix for the Dutch language Wikipedia.
- Wikimedia Commons image links are using File:
- Use the simple base link, e.g. c: for Wikimedia Commons, d: for Wikidata
- Add a label to the remaining external links (avoid naked URLs).
- Put the sentence-dot after the ] or ]].
- Add some pictures.
- Use the upright qualifier for tall images (height larger than width).
- Leave an empty line before/after well-known Wiki code constructs (headers, images, lists, tables).
- Avoid <br>; replace it by an empty line -- this will simplify the translation.
- Maybe you need an unnumbered item list, using bullets *
