IBAN and BIC

From Wikimedia Belgium

The IBAN and BIC bank account numbers are used for international payments using the SWIFT network.

IBAN: International Bank Account Number, identifying bank account numbers.

BIC: Bank Identifier Code, identifying national and regional banks (not required for national payments).

Belgian bank account prefixes

[edit]

Every bank operating in Belgium gets ranges of 3 digits prefix numbers, maintained by the National Bank of Belgium. Certain banks used specific numbers for brances; other banks group services (current account, savings account, life insurance) to specific numbers.
