Amazon, coordinating women's association “Association for Gender Equality” (Amazon House) w is financially supported by the Fonds Vrienden van Wikimedia België Fund under a Wikimedian in Residence project. This project is managed by the Koning Boudewijnstichting.
Project description
With the coaching of a Dutch-speaking and a French-speaking Wikimedian in Residence, the staff members from the Dutch-speaking and French-speaking women's midfields want to let them discover the possibilities of Wikidata and Wikipedia, giving them the opportunity to make their own workings and their most important struggles known to a wider audience through the French-speaking and Dutch-speaking versions of Wikipedia.
The Amazon database ‘Associations for Gender Equality’, contains the coordinates of 800 associations. Based on this data, Amazon staff and external women's associations will be invited to participate in this project. The project will consist in transferring the coordinates of the participating associations to Wikidata to be subsequently incorporated into at least 1 Wikipedia article per participant. The staff members of the Amazon Documentation Centre will themselves provide at least 3 articles on the structure of the women's movement.
