AGENDA[edit]

  1. preparing Wikimedia conference
    • a poster profile for our chapter

[1] [2]

    • Dimi's proposal for our conference priorities:
  • Further deepen the links to WMNL so we can have a "special partnership" or whatever else you want to call it (maybe we can even ask them what they want to achieve during the conference and help)
  • Volunteer recruitment/participation (let's see what the best practices out there are)
  • Work with other European chapters on a common stand vis-à-vis the Foundation on strategic issues (the entire chapter structure is supposed to be reformed, but the WMF doesn't know where it wants to go yet, crucial for us to have a vision for ourselves before they do)

[3]

  1. varia:

Input about poster profile[edit]

Input about Dimi's proposal[edit]

Derekś remarks[edit]

I do agree with Dimi that the board should write a plan and act upon it to "Further deepen the links to WMNL to make it a "special partnership" or whatever else you want to call it" , we definitely should talk to them and

    • ask how we can help them to achieve what they want to achieve during the Berlin conference
    • how we can strengthen our collaboration form ad-hoc to structural collaboration
    • organsie together activities .

I agree also with Dimi that we should reflect on Volunteer recruitment/participation (let's see what the best practices out there are)

    • - How can we reach volunteers from the existing wikinauts and let them work in a more structured approach
      • participate in wiki evangilisation ,
      • help us run GLAM events ,
      • organise edit-a-thons
      • take up regular sessions in the educational events such as a school tour, to recruit and educate new wiki contributors
    • - how can we bind people to our activities making them reliable partner on who we can depend
    • - It seems to me there a changing levels of interest among out board members (or is that a false impression?) our volunteers should be able to depend on us
  • Work with other European chapters on a common stand vis-à-vis the Foundation on strategic issues (the entire chapter structure is supposed to be reformed, but the WMF doesn't know where it wants to go yet, crucial for us to have a vision for ourselves before they do)
    • - whatever WMF wants to do with chapters it will require a locally established unit that can organise the work. that could be a usergroup such as the Cascadians (CWUG, from the Washington state-BC area) or a chapter like DE or NL or ourselves.
      • The local organisations require means ( and money) to establish themselves before they get into a phase where they can generate their own means and many.
      • The local units need assistance and support to grow and to kickstart their initiatives because the steppingstone is quite high
      • Ziko van Dijk of wikiteam.de - raised some really strong issues during GLAM wiki
      • we should reflect on why we do what we do, who we do it for, and what we are doing  :
      • examples evangilisation presentations, presentations to GLAM's, edit-a-thons, hackathons etc
      • what are our expectations ? what are the expectations of the attendees?
      • what are our objectives ... what results are obtained from these events ... are those results satisfying etc?
      • how can we improve our activities to align with the results we aim for
